Boycott Puma

Across the UK, over 30 protests are taking place outside stores stocking PUMA goods.

PUMA sponsors the Israel Football Association (IFA), which operates in illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, based on stolen Palestinian land.

The sponsorship brings international legitimacy to the IFA and helps sustain the infrastructure of illegal Israeli settlements, which push Palestinians from their land.

In Central London, we'll be gathering outside Puma's flagship store on Carnaby Street to ensure they can't ignore our demand that they stop sponsoring human rights abuses.

Join the protest, and ensure potential customers know to keep Puma goods on the shelf.

Refuser.

My name is Eran, I’m 19 years old and I live in Tel Aviv. I refuse to be conscripted to the Israeli military becuase I am not willing to take part in the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. I already served 14 days in military jail and last Sunday I was sentenced to another 20 days in jail.

From a very early age, I strove to understand the political situation in Israel and the power relations between Israelis and Palestinians. After researching the topic I came to understand the daily reality of Palestinians living under the Israeli occupation. The more I learned about the blockade of Gaza and the lack of basic human rights for Palestinians in the West Bank the more clear it was to me that I cannot agree to become a soldier and take part in the oppression of the Palestinian people.
In my statement to the army’s Committee for Granting Exemptions for Reasons of Conscience, I declared my reasons for my refusal of military service:
I refuse because I believe it is immoral and unreasonable to hold the Palestinian people under military control and blockade without granting them civil and political rights, and while violating their human rights on an ongoing basis.

I refuse because I believe that all human beings should be governed by institutions that represent them.

I refuse because I believe that enlisting in the army legitimizes the occupation and serves it.

I refuse because I believe that Israel could and should end the occupation immediately whether by agreement, withdrawal, or by granting citizenship to the Palestinian people and the establishment of a bi-national state for both Palestinians and Israelis.

I refuse because I respect the rules and norms of international law and the international community, which reject the Israeli occupation.

On the day of my conscription I refused to be drafted and was sent to be tried in a military court. One of the officers there told me he wanted to stop me from going to jail and that he had a solution that would allow me to serve by joining the Israeli police force, for my service. I agreed, believing that in that way I could serve the country without taking a part in the occupation.

I was invited to an interview for the police forces in the national headquarters in Sheikh Jarrah, in Occupied East Jerusalem. I refused because I am not willing to invade Palestinian territories. As a result, I was rejected by the police for being a conscientious objector and was sent back to the military court. The officer who suggested I join the police was angered by my “stubbornness” but  said he would try to change the police decision. I was called to another interview in West Jerusalem. There, I was rejected for stating that I would not report or use information regarding the Occupied Territories that I would receive during my police service. I was tried once again in military court, and was sentenced to jail for 14 days.

After the military’s failed attempts to find a service position for me that would not be against my conscience, my conclusion is that it is not possible to serve in the military or the police without taking part in the occupation. After 54 years the occupation has seeped into all security positions in Israel. It is unavoidable and will only stop once the occupation itself comes to an end.

Eran

Stop CAF

CAF?
Take Action: Demand HS2 Kick CAF Out Of The Bid!

CAF operates the Jerusalem Light Railway, which connects West Jerusalem with illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied East. The railway therefore cements Israel's seizure and occupation of Palestinian land.

By participating in the project, CAF is contributing to Israel’s serious violations of international law and Palestinian human rights.

CAF has been widely condemned across Europe. Late last year, over 30 prominent human rights organisations and trade unions from Palestine and Europe submitted a report to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) demanding that CAF be included in the UN database of businesses involved in Israel’s illegal settlements.
No public contracts for apartheid supporting CAF!

Jewish Voice for Peace.

Right now, Facebook is weighing a change to its hate speech policy – but not one that would make anyone safer. The social media giant is considering labeling "Zionist" a proxy for "Jew" or "Israeli," making it a protected category. Under this policy, attempts to hold the state of Israel accountable could be labeled as hate speech and removed from the platform.

This change would deprive Palestinians of a critical venue for expressing their political viewpoints to the world, chill efforts to hold the Israeli government accountable, and undermine the fight to dismantle antisemitism. We have to stop this in its tracks.

Today, together with 23 partner organizations, we’re launching an international campaign to tell Facebook that we need the freedom to talk about Zionists and Zionism – as Jews, as Palestinians, and as anyone joining the struggle for justice and equality for all in Palestine/Israel. Initial signers come from across the globe and include politicians and poets, human rights defenders and movie stars. From Hanan Ashrawi to Karol Cariola, from Wallace Shawn and Peter Gabriel to Noam Chomsky and Judith Butler, from Miriam Margolyes to Dr. Cornel West, the list is growing fast.

Tell Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg that we need to talk: Adding the word “Zionist” as a protected category in Facebook’s hate speech policy only serves to build more walls to keep us apart.

Just a few weeks ago, we watched in horror as white nationalists bearing antisemitic slogans overran the U.S. Capitol. Antisemitism is real, and we are committed to dismantling it, along with the entire machinery of division and fear used to keep us isolated and alone. But Facebook’s proposed policy would entrench antisemitism, not dismantle it. In falsely equating all Jewish people with the state of Israel, Facebook plays into dangerous stereotypes – and obscures the mechanics of real antisemitism.

Tell Facebook, we need to talk: Restricting the use of the word “Zionist” is the wrong solution to a real problem.

As Judith Butler wrote to you in December, this move by Facebook is part of a global effort by the Israeli government and its supporters “to silence legitimate speech and prevent Palestinians and their allies from holding the Israeli government accountable for its unjust policies of dispossession, occupation, disenfranchisement, and incarceration.” But social media companies should give us a platform to hold governments accountable, not shield state power from legitimate critique.

Facebook shouldn’t deprive Palestinians of a critical venue for talking about their daily lives, experiences, and political viewpoints. Tell Facebook now: We need to talk!

Anti-Palestinian activists want to control the use of the word “Zionist” because they want to keep us isolated and apart. Their fear is a testament to the power of movement building, communication, and connection. But we won’t let them silence us. Let’s keep this conversation going.

Onward,

head shot
