Hey Ho! The Wicked Witch Is Dead.

Apparently there is a campaign being mounted on Facebook to get Ella Fitzgerald's version of this tune to the top of the hit parade in time for her funeral. I despised her when she was alive for the terrible damage that she inflicted on this country and will be happy to dance on her grave. Her legacy has been much debated and the BBC have fawned over her departure but she is directly responsible for the banking meltdown, with her free for all policies, and the housing crisis and homelessness, through the selling off of the public housing stock, and for the grossly exorbitant prices that we are having to pay to the privatised companies for such things as energy, telephones and the railways. All of the nations silver, to quote Harold McMillan, was sold off, to her friends in the city, at knock down prices and all of us are having to pay the bill today for her irresponsibility.
However I am fully in support of those who are mounting a campaign for her funeral to be paid for by the private sector and am glad to hear that the e petition has been so over subscribed that it has now been closed. I for one wish to make it clear that not one penny of my taxes should be put towards a military funeral in her honour, unless the 21 gun salute is aimed at her coffin: The lady is not for burning.

I always smiled irreverently at her basking in the title of, "The Iron Lady" and many people fail to see the irony in this to this day. The term was used, long before she came to power, to describe the electric chair, in which many a poor soul was burnt to death in American jails. She was indeed the executioner and the title is fitting. As ever there is a Phil Ochs song about it.
