Part of the Union.

There have been very few things in my life that I have been proud of but, aside from family, my soul bursts with pride at the fact that I joined my trade union on the first day that I joined work and  only resigned from my union on the day after I left work.

Wildfires.

Wildfire regimes under climate change favor shifts from conifers to deciduous trees and from forests to shrublands. In addition, wildfire intensity can serve as a measure for soil recovery, with higher intensities having severe impacts on soil structure, nutrients and erosion. Accordingly, wildfire severity can serve as a measure for estimating hydrological effects, with extreme magnitudes being responsible for floods and short-term water pollution. On an average wildfire regime and a temperate climate, abiotic factors can be restored in a decade, while 15 to 25 years are needed for the recovery of vegetation composition. -

Vassilios A. Tsihrintzis  also:-

Woodlandfires (or wildfires) burn approximately 44 Mha on average per year during the 2012-2023 period (GWIS, 2024 and authors’ elaboration), questioning whether the burned land will ever recover or if desertification will prevail. Through the ecological procedure of succession, natural forest systems advance towards vegetation species and structures which - depending on environmental conditions - require several decades (at least 40 years) to reach the stage of potential natural community (PNC) (Hall, 1995O'Hara et al., 1996Powell, 1996Yearsley and Parminter, 1998).

The rules of genocide.

Israel’s politicians and generals have a strategy: not security, not coexistence. It is the oldest colonial formula in history: seize the land, expel the indigenous population, and then call the defenders terrorists.

Men and women of honour: The Israeli refusers.

Dear All,

Daniel here. As a soldier, I recently refused to serve in the Gaza war, and spent time in military prison for that. Nowadays, I organize fellow refusers in Israel. Every day, I speak with soldiers who are questioning the war, struggling with what they’ve seen, and wondering whether there’s another path. I wouldn’t be able to do this work without Resistance Solidarity Network standing behind me. They provide the resources, the backing, and the help create this great community of international supporters that make resistance possible. As part of RSN’s mid-year campaign, I hope you’ll consider supporting them too. They’re not funding abstract ideas. They’re funding real people on the ground who are taking real risks. And they need our help: if they don't raise the money, they cannot carry on with their work. Support them today.

IRANWar no imminent threat to America- Israeli plot.

The Trump administration's top official on counterterrorism has resigned from his position, citing opposition to the war in Iran, and urged the president to "reverse course".

In a letter posted on his X account, National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said that Iran posed "no imminent threat" to the US and claimed that the Trump administration "started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby".

Kent, 45, is a US special forces and CIA veteran whose wife, navy cryptologic technician Shannon Kent, was killed in a suicide bombing in Syria in 2019.

Keir Starmer

One of the few sensible decisions that I have made in recent years was to resign from the Labour Party on the day that he was elected as leader. Unfortunately in the wake of his inevitable resignation he will  take the Party with him probably into the political wilderness for many years, if not permanently.

There’s a Bully in Town

 and he Trump’s,Trump’s Trump’s around.

It’s funny really but nobody’s laughing.

And little Keir Starmer meanwhile puts the little boys boot in.

Et tu?

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING PALESTINIANS

Thank you for your generosity and solidarity with Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.

Thanks to your crucial support, we can continue to strive for a future in which all Palestinians can access an effective, sustainable and locally-led system of healthcare and the full realisation of their rights.

Demand action from the UK government.

MAP advocates and campaigns in the UK and internationally in support of Palestinians’ rights. We promote the voices of Palestinians and work to address the root causes of the barriers to accessing quality healthcare.

The ceasefire deal is a glimmer of hope – but Israeli forces are still killing Palestinians, and Gaza’s healthcare system lies in ruins. The UK Government cannot look away.

Demand Keir Starmer and Yvette Cooper take action

PALESTINIANS WATCH ON AS ISRAELI DIGGERS TEAR DOWN THEIR HOMES

IN JERUSALEM. Shame on you from Cornwall.

'No one is here to help us': Palestinians watch on as Israeli diggers tear down their homes in East Jerusalem

It comes as Israel's far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich announced that the security cabinet had approved 19 new Jewish settlements in the Occupied West Bank.

A balcony of onlookers stare as three diggers gnaw at the four-storey building that was a fixture of their daily view.

The roads of Silwan's Wadi Qaddom neighbourhood are blocked off by Israeli police as residents watch the demolition in the valley from every vantage point. The block of flats was home to around 100 of their neighbours - many of them are now homeless.

An elderly woman sits at the bus stop near the police checkpoint closest to the demolition site. As she walks back down the hill, she looks back at the destruction. Her cheeks are red with anger when she hails that God is their only protection.

"Where are the Arab countries? No one is here to help us," she exclaims.

Of the 230 buildings demolished in East Jerusalem's Palestinian neighbourhoods in 2025, the block of roughly 13 flats is considered to be the largest and took 12 hours to completely demolish.

The building was without a permit, like many in Silwan, and stood on land that was not licensed for residential use. The residents were challenging long-standing demolition orders and applying for licensing when diggers arrived at dawn.

The Jerusalem Municipality said the demolition of the building in Silwan was based on a 2014 court order, and that residents were granted extensions for the execution of the order and were offered various options in order to find a solution, but they declined to do so.

But an architect and urban planner from the Israeli NGO Bimkom (Planners for Planning Rights) - which is supporting the families in their bid to license the land of the building - says their time to act was cut short.

The UN Committee on Torture - without comment.

The committee was particularly critical of Israel's reported use of the Unlawful Combatants law to detain whole groups of Palestinians, including children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

But it is the reported conditions in detention which make the grimmest reading in the committee's conclusions, published today.

Palestinians, the evidence suggests, are regularly deprived of food and water, and subjected to severe beatings, attacks by dogs, electrocution, water boarding, and sexual violence. Some are allegedly permanently shackled, denied access to a toilet, and forced to wear diapers.

The committee concluded that such treatment "amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity". It said evidence of a "de facto state policy of organised and widespread torture" by Israel was one of the acts which constitute the crime of genocide under international law.
