There have rightly been celebrations this week of the anniversary of the Battle of Britain. My father worked for the Air Ministry during the war and his role included liaising with the Polish airmen who had come to this country. It is a little known fact that during the Battle of Britain the Polish lost more airmen and shot down more German planes than we did. Those that oppose the immigration of the Polish to this country in recent years should be ashamed of themselves as we owe our freedoms as much to them as to our own brave airmen.. We are, thank God, building one Europe now and we are united instead of fighting one another. Long may it last.
